My Research Topic

Since I still have yet to choose a major here at KSU, using it for a research topic is not really an option. I could always research a topic I am interested in such as a hobby, but then again, since it would be a hobby, I probably wouldn't be learning very much new information. I would rather pick a topic that I have always wanted to know about, but have yet to take the time to sit down and research. Racism is still a very large issue in today's society, and I believe that it is because of communication gaps, or people not knowing about other people. Researching African American history and culture, could help close the gap. Knowing where the culture sparked from and how it was molded into what it is today could help me to understand where racism begins. Im not sure if this is going to be my topic for sure, but I think it would be a good way to spend my time researching.

I think researching a topic that interests you is a really good idea because you wont lose intrest. You might even find something that you might like to major in. Even if you don't learn new information about something you already know you still may find it interesting. I think racism and African American history are very interesting topics maybe you could write about thoughs.

Although I was always interested in advertising, I did not decide to major in it until this past September. Maybe you will find that one of your interests will turn into a major. You should definitely pick something you'll enjoy for the whole semester.

This is a wonderful topic! I am glad to see someone doing this as a topic and you will probably see a lot of me on your blog. I think this is something that needs to be discussed in today’s society. I took an African American literature class my sophomore year and it opened my eyes wide! We read Nelson Mandela’s A Long Walk to Freedom (which I strongly recommend as a source in any African history paper) and it was incredible. We also read I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou and it gave a very unique view into racism. This is always something to talk about, but I think if you really fined tuned your topic down to communication gaps like you mentioned in your post, it would give your paper a newer look at the problem of racism today. You have so many paths you can take with your paper and countless resources at you fingertips, but be careful you don’t get to lost in your research. Pick something you can get eight pages out of but not something that’s going to have you writing a book.
